$5 Walgreens Scenario – Week of 9/13/09
Posted by Admin on Sep 12th, 2009
Here’s what I plan to do at Walgreens this week (see Deal Seeking Mom for the full list). There are just two s imple transactions, for under $5! And if you have any RR’s from previous weeks, you’ll pay even less! The coupons that you’ll need are printed in blue.
Transaction #1:
Buy 2 Neosporin, $3.99
Use two $1/1 Neosporin coupons here or from the 8/2 or 8/23 Smart Source inserts
Use $2/1 Neosporin Walgreens coupon from the Children’s Activity Book (it will apply to both items, making it worth $4)
Total After Coupons: $1.98
RR’s Earned: $3.00
Transaction #2:
Buy 1 True North Nut Crisps or Clusters, $3
Buy 1 Keebler Cookies, $1.99
**Small filler item (see note)
Use one $1/1 True North coupon here
Use one $1/1 Keebler Cookies coupon here
Use $3 RR from Transaction #1
***Total After Coupons: $0 (see note)
RR’s Earned: $3.00
Transaction #3:
Buy 2 Band-Aid Tough Strips or Ultra Strips, $2.99
**Small filler item
Use two 0.50/1 coupons from the 8/2 or 6/28 Smart Source inserts (some regions got $1/1 in the 8/2 insert)
Use $3 RR from Transaction #2
Total After Coupons & RR’s: $1.98
RR’s Earned: $3.00
Grand Total OOP: $3.96
RR’s Remaining for Next Week: $3.00
**In Transactions #2 and #3, you will need a small filler item. Walgreens requires you to have an item for each coupon you use and they count RR’s as coupons. Aim for a cheap filler item, such as a pencil (I think they’re around $0.10).
***In Transaction #2, your total would actually be $0.01 overage, but because you have to add in a filler item, you won’t have any overage and the register shouldn’t beep at you.
Thanks to Lynn at Maven of Savin’ for pointing out what my Mommy Brain missed late last night! The deals are now fixed and Register Rewards should print for all 3 transactions.

The Neosporin/Bandaid RR are the same promotion so if you try to use the RR from transaction 1 in transaction 2, the second $3 RR will not print out.
Lynn – Right…so I think it’s safe to say I am NOT allowed to work up scenarios in the middle of the night anymore!! Two weeks in a row….I’m lucky I have people like you to point these things out! I will have to figure something out here!
I was looking at Scenario #1 and I don’t think it will work because you’ll have more coupons than the number of items.
Saving Money Mommy – The Neosporin coupons in the Children’s Activity Book are store coupons. From what I understand, the rule regarding having as many items as coupons applies only to manufacturer coupons (RR’s are treated as manufacturer coupons). I have never had a problem doing transactions like this.
