Super Savings Saturday – 9/5/09

Posted by Admin on Sep 5th, 2009

This week was a good shopping week!  We only shopped two days (and one of those days was just a 15-minute trip to Dillon’s in the afternoon) and came in well under budget!

On Sunday, I got my newspapers at Dillon’s as usual.

  • 4 newspapers
    1.86 x 4 = 7.99 with tax

On Monday, we went to Dillon’s again to take advantage of the Mega-Sale one last time!  With the Mega-Sale, you get $5 off for every 10 participating items that you buy…so $0.50 off each item.  I bought 30 Mega-Sale items, so I got $15 off. When  I do the breakdown, I’ll put the amount that the sale saved me and I’ll just put (MS) for Mega-Sale after it, so you’ll know what I mean.

  • 4Yoplait Multipack Yogurts
    2.39 x 4 = 9.56 – 0.80 Cellfire coupon – four 0.40 coupons doubled to 0.80 – 2.00 (MS) = 3.56 or 0.89 each
  • 2 Trix cereals
    2.49 x 2 = 4.98 – two 0.55 coupons doubled to 1.00 – 1.00 (MS) = 1.98 or 0.99 each
  • 5 Fruit Shapes
    2.49 x 5 = 12.45 – 0.40 Cellfire coupon – four 0.35 coupons doubled to 0.70 – 2.50 (MS) = 6.75 or 1.35 each (and I got a 3.50 catalina back!)
  • 10 Sobe Lifewaters
    1.00 x 10 = 10.00 – 5.00 (MS) = 5.00 or 0.50 each

  • Sun Chips

  • Red grapes
    0.99/lb x 2.30 lbs = 2.28

Total w/ tax: 28.67; Total savings: 42.74 (62%!!) And I also got $3.50 in catalinas back!

On Tuesday, we went to Walgreens and got this:

  • 2 Coffee Mate Creamers
    1.50x 2 = 3.00 – two 1.00 coupon = 1.00 or 0.50 each
  • 1 Carefree Pantiliners
    1.99 – one 1.00 coupon = 0.99

Total w/ tax: 2.36; Total savings: 7.18.
Received $2.00 Register Reward for the pantiliners.

So it was like getting all three items for only $0.36!

At Aldi, I spent $24.15.  No particularly good deals…we mainly needed to stock up on lunch items.  For awhile, we were able to eat leftovers for nearly every lunch but we haven’t had as many leftovers lately for some reason.

No coupons this week at Walmart.  The corn was $0.25 each, though.

Walmart Total w/ tax: $10.28

Also at Walmart, I cashed a WIC check and got the following items for free (not pictured and not counted in any totals):

  • 2 cans of juice concentrate
  • 2 gallons of milk
  • 1 can of tuna
  • 1 dozen eggs
  • 1 jar of peanut butter

For the whole shopping trip, we spent $73.45 and saved $49.92!!!!
