$5 Walgreens Scenario – 8/23/09 – 8/30/09
Posted by Admin on Aug 24th, 2009
Sorry I’m late getting this up. My blogs were down last night when I was trying to post this.
Walgreens has some awesome deals this week (see Deal Seeking Mom for the full list). I’m really excited about the Listerine Smart Rinses! Here’s what I plan to do this week. There are just two three simple transactions, for under $5! And if you have any RR’s from previous weeks, you’ll pay even less! The coupons that you’ll need are printed in blue.
Transaction #1:
Buy (2) Listerine Agent Cool Blue or Smart Blue Rinse, 2/$8 (Get $3 RR wyb 2)
*Buy (1) Reach Toothbrush, 0.99 (w/ in-ad coupon)
Use BOGO Listerine Agent Cool Blue or Smart Blue Rinse coupon from the 8/2 SS
Use $1/1 Listerine Agent Cool Blue or Smart Blue Rinse coupon from the 6/14 SS (or here)
Use $1/1 Listerine Agent Cool Blue or Smart Blue Rinse coupon from the Walgreens Children’s Activity Book
Use $1/1 Reach Toothbrush coupon from the 8/2 SS
Total After Coupons: $0.99
RR’s Earned: $3.00
*Note: Since the Reach Toothbrushes are better than free, you can buy as many as you have coupons for, without affecting the total.
Transaction #2:
Buy (2) Children’s Benadryl, $4.99ea
Buy (2) Tylenol 8-Hour Products, $4.49 ea BOGO
**Small filler item
Use (2) $1/1 Benadryl Children’s from 8/23 RP
Use $1/1 Benadryl from the Walgreen’s Children’s Activity Book
Use (2) $2/1 Tylenol 8-Hour Product from 8/23 SS (or here)
Use $3 RR from Transaction #1
Total After Coupons & RR’s :$3.47 (+ cost of filler)
RR’s Earned: $5.00
**Note: You need the small filler item because your number of items purchased must be equal to or greater than the number of coupons/RR’s used. You want to aim for something like a pencil, which are priced around $0.10!
Grand Total OOP: $4.46 (+ cost of filler)
RR’s Remaining for Next Week: $5.00

I thought you couldn’t use more coupons/register rewards than the number of items you buy.
Debbie – You are right!! Thanks for pointing that out…I guess that’s what I get for planning transactions at midnight!! You would have to add in a cheap filler item (I’ll edit the post to include that).
