Grocery Shopping – Week of 5/10
Posted by Admin on May 13th, 2009

Last week, KMart was doubling coupons up to $2. If they had actually been doubling $2 coupons as well (which I thought they were), all of this stuff would have been free. Unfortunately, they weren’t (the coupon had to be under $2), so I ended up paying about $10 for all of this. A little disappointing, but it was still an amazing deal. Just the Electrasol powerball tabs by themselves should have been over $16. Sorry I can’t do a breakdown…I can’t find my receipt right now.

I was so happy that Dillon’s was finally running a sale on pasta! I have literally 20 jars of Ragu, so I needed to stockpile something to use it on!
- 6 Dr Pepper
1.25 x 6 = 7.50 – 2.50 (Buy 6, get 2 free) = 5.00 or 0.83 each! - 4 Kraft sliced cheese
1.66 x 4 = 6.64 – two $1/2 coupons = 4.64 or 1.16 each - 10 Barilla pasta
1.00 x 10 = 10.00 - 2 Oscar Meyer lunch meat
3.00 x 2 = 6.00 – $1/2 coupon = 5.00 or 2.50 each - 2 Johnsonville Beef Hot Links (impulse buy made by Chad)
3.50 x 2 = 7.00 - Cameo Apples
0.89/lb x 2.44 lbs = 2.17
Total w/ tax: 36.70; Total Savings: 19.43 (36%)

I also thought I’d give you an idea of what we get free from WIC every week. This is what we got this week. Once a month, we also get baby cereal, too, but we picked up all that last week.

Usually, HyVee isn’t on my list of usual stops, but they had some really great sales this week. I wasn’t interested in anything at CVS, so it worked out well to go to HyVee instead and not add any extra stops.
- Gummy Worms (another one of Chad’s impulse buys)
5.28 - Pudding Cups (and another one)
2.88 - 3 boxes Kellogg’s cereal
1.58 x 3 = 4.74 – three $1/1 coupons = 1.74 or 0.58 each!! - Frozen chicken breasts (2.5 lbs)
4.99 - 10 Dannon yogurts
0.30 x 10 = 3.00 – $0.60/1 coupon = 2.40 or $0.24 each!!! - 6 ears Olathe sweet corn
0.25 x 6 = 1.50 - Flat Iron Steak (another one of Chad’s impulse buys)
6.92
Total: 27.89; Coupon savings (HyVee doesn’t calculate total savings through sales): 4.60

At Aldi, I spent $20.60

I had an amazing trip at Walmart. The cashier was shocked when my total before coupons was about $30 and my total after coupons was about $17!
Here’s a rundown of just the things I used coupons on:
- 4 Colgate toothbrushes
0.97 x 4 = 3.88 – four $1/1 coupons = FREE with overage of -$0.12 - Ritz Bits crackers
2.00 – $1/1 coupon = $1.00 - 4 Kraft BBQ sauce
0.98 x 4 = 3.92 – four $1/1 coupons = FREE with overage of -$0.08 - 4 Kraft BBQ sauce
0.98 x 4 = 3.92 – four 0.75/1 coupons = 0.92 or 0.23 each - A1 Steak Sauce
2.98 – $1/1 coupon = 1.98 - 2 Evercare lint rollers
