Grocery Shopping Week of 2/8

Posted by Admin on Feb 13th, 2009

Yes, I know it’s Thursday night and I’m finally getting around to posting about the shopping I did on Sunday.  But we’ve been sick this week…and really sick yesterday.  But better late than never, so here we go!

This week, Dillon’s was running a Daytona Sale, which meant I got $3 off my order for every 10 participating products I bought (I bought 20, so got $6 off).  So I got all of this for $27.33.  Here’s how:

  • 3 Breyer’s ice creams: 3.49 x 3 = 10.47
  • 2 Totino’s pizza rolls: 1.25 x 2 = 2.50 – 0.50/1 Shortcuts coupon – $1/2 = $1 or $0.50 each
  • 8 Ragu Spaghetti Sauce: 1.72 x 8 = 13.76 – four $1/2 = 9.76 or 1.22 each
  • 4 Betty Crocker fruit snacks: 1.88 x 4 = 7.52 – two .75/2 (doubled to $1) = 5.52 or 1.38 each
  • 3 Beefaroni: 0.88 x 3 = 2.64 – .35/3 (doubled to .70) = 1.94 or 0.64 each
  • 4 Cottonelle: .99 x 4 = 3.96 – four $.50/1 (doubled to $1) = -0.04 FREE W/ OVERAGE
  • 2 Del Monte Green Beans: .99 x 2 = 1.98 – two .30/1 (doubled to .60) = .78 or .39 each
  • 2 Del Monte Green Beans: .99 x 2 = 1.98 – two .75/1 (doubled to 1) = -0.02 FREE W/ OVERAGE
  • 1 Yo-Plus Yogurt: 2.00 – $1/1 Shortcuts coupon – $1/1 = o FREE
  • 1 Yo-Plus Yogurt: 2.00 – $1.50/1 = .50
  • - $3 Daytona Deal
  • -$3 Daytona Deal

Total: $27.33 with tax; Saved $33.11 ($21.45 was in coupons)

I didn’t take a picture of it, but I also bought 4 newspapers and a package of marked down diced beef.  That totalled $12.02.

I did two transactions at CVS and got the pictured items for only $1.50!  Here’s how:

Transaction #1:

  • Garnier Nutrisse Hair Color: 5.99 – $2/1 = 3.99
  • Gillette Fusion Razor: 9.99 – 4 = 5.99
  • - I had them adjust a $10 ECB down to $9.98, so I only had to pay tax out of pocket.

Total: $0.45;  Savings: $17.98

Transaction #2:

  • Chewable Aspirin $1.99
  • Instant Energy supplement: 4.99
  • - $6 ECB

Total: $1.05; Savings: $6.00

I also got $13.95 in Extra Care Bucks back.

We were able to skip Aldi this week, so Walmart was our last stop.

The Cascade Rinse Agent and Buddies Bars were free and I had coupons for all of the toddler snacks.  The milk, cheese, cereal and juice was also free, thanks to WIC!

Total: 31.03; Savings: $11.13 (plus the cost of the items we got through WIC)

Total spending: 71.88; Total Savings: $68.22
